How do you color your hair at home when you've always had it done at a salon - how to make the transition?

Unless you know what colors your colorist uses or you hate your color, I wouldn't suggest it.

People don't realize that when they color their hair themselves, they usually overlap the color that was done before.

It's different if you really cut down your hair every time your color your hair.

The only exception is black color.

Perhaps you may want to transition into a low maintainence color/semi permanent color? That kind of color would fade gently out of your hair without the severe roots. You can't really mess it up.How do you color your hair at home when you've always had it done at a salon - how to make the transition?
not as easy as it sounds, find something that is closest to what you have already and have someone help you do it. also make sure to check the bottle inside the box before you buy it , many times they aren't the same as the box #How do you color your hair at home when you've always had it done at a salon - how to make the transition?
Acutally its hard for me because I have always had it done professionally and I cant stand doing it myself. Hey but vanity gets the best of us.
stick witht the salon they know what the are doing.

nothing worse then looking down in the sink and all your hair is in it.
Call your salon and tell them you wish to know what brand (Clairol, REDKEN,Loreal, etc) they used on you and the name and/or number. A professional hair salon should take record and release statements and should have your color formula written on file. When you find the brand, look up their 1-800 number and ask them which home color would match the professional color that was used.
The best thing to do is to start out with at home highlights, or a level 2 semi-permanent dye, so it's not a huge commitment. Always read ALL of the directions, and have someone help you!
all you have to do is get a box of the dye color you like at the store and read the directions it will tell you everything...why dont you go to the hair dresser again
